MULTI-PLATINUM ENTERTAINER TIM HICKS DELIVERS NEW SONG “WHISKEY DOES” AVAILABLE TODAY (2/25)

Toronto, ON (February 25, 2022) – Today, multi-platinum, award winning entertainer Tim Hicks stealthily serves up his new single “Whiskey Does” via Open Road Recordings. Self-penned alongside Deric Ruttan, and Monty Criswell and produced by Ruttan “Whiskey Does” unveils the next chapter in Hicks’ career and is the first new release for the four-time JUNO Award nominee and CCMA Award winner in 2022, setting the stage for what’s to come this year.

“Whiskey Does” showcases Hicks’ versatility, serving as a perfect example that he has no problem diverting from arena sized anthems to intimate story-telling and pensive explorations that sway with an intoxicating influence. Grounded by his unmistakeable voice and aching lyrics, “Whiskey Does” is a heartbreak story with an inebriating effect.

Everything’s black and white after I’ve had a few

Yeah, whiskey might not love me but neither do you

Hey, you wanna make me late for work

Make me forget how bad love hurts

Well baby, I got news for you

Whiskey does that too

Of the song says Hicks, “I’m so proud of this one. I wrote it with Deric Ruttan and Monty Criswell last year and have been looking forward to sharing it ever since. I think everyone’s been in a relationship at some point in their life that’s maybe not the best relationship for you, but there’s something there that keeps you going back to the well to ‘try again’. This time the singer decides his love interest does all the same things to him as whiskey does, and he’s decided to choose the whiskey over the toxic relationship. It makes for a good country song.”

While Hicks has cemented deep roots in Canadian country music, his genesis as an artist began with humble beginnings, charming bar patrons nightly with a vast repertoire of solo acoustic material designed to please a crowd. Hicks’ 2021 release of the 7-song EP Campfire Troubadour reimagined Hicks’ chart-topping sound opting for a more intimate setting, as much at home in a fireside jam as it would be in the unassuming rooms he once played.

Delivering track after track with unparalleled quality and consistency, Hicks’ ascent as an elite chart-topping act since making his country label debut in 2013 is undeniable. His vast catalogue of highly praised releases including Throw Down5:015:01+Shake These WallsNew TattooWreck This and his latest EP Campfire Troubadour, have earned the four-time JUNO Award nominee and CCMA Award winner a DOUBLE PLATINUM selling single, three PLATINUM selling singles, nine GOLD singles, one GOLD album and eighteen Top 10 radio hits (including the #1 singles “No Truck Song” and “What A Song Should Do”), in addition to over 100 million collective streams, multiple sold-out headlining dates and back-to-back national tours. Hicks, a 2021 CCMA Awards nominee for Single of the Year is now a three-time consecutive winner, (and the first recipient ever) of the Nielsen Compass Award, which recognizes an artist for the most total content plays including streams, single and album sales as well as total social media following.
