COUNTRY ARTIST AND PROUDLY SASKATCHEWAN SHOWCASE WINNER AMY NELSON ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE ‘TRIPPIN’

‘TRIPPIN’ GOING FOR ADDS NOW

OPEN ROAD RECORDINGS TEAMS UP WITH 620 CKRM’S PROUDLY SASKATCHEWAN SHOWCASE WITH A SINGLE RELEASE PRIZE

Canadian Country artist and 620 CKRM’s Proudly Saskatchewan Showcase winner Amy Nelson released her brand new single ’Trippin’ on Friday January 7 and is going for adds on Country radio NOW. ‘Trippin’ was written by 2021 CCMA Songwriters of the Year, Madeline Merlo, Patricia Conroy, David “ Dwave" Thomson and Tina Gemza and produced by award-winning producer, Jeff Dalziel, “Trippin’.”

The Proudly Saskatchewan Showcase has been a staple for homegrown artists to be discovered in Saskatchewan for over 40 years. Previous winners include Jess Moskaluke, Tenille Arts and Brad Johner. Open Road Recordings recently teamed up with 620 CKRM to offer the most recent winner a single release in an effort to bring their career to the next level and to introduce them to a broader audience.

“With 620 CKRM’s previous success in launching the careers of so many talented Saskatchewan artists via the Proudly Saskatchewan Showcase, it was an easy decision to get involved and offer a grand prize of a single release. Artist development is our passion and we are thrilled to contribute to Amy’s already blossoming career by releasing this single with her.” Amber Bell, Manager of National Promotion at Open Road Recordings.

“When I heard that the grand prize winner would have a chance to work with Open Road, I knew I would enter this contest. After slugging it out as an indie artist for many years, I know how big of an opportunity it is to work with a label like Open Road.” says Amy Nelson about winning the contest. “Trippin’” is all about the ups and downs of falling for someone new. It’s clumsy, it can be messy and it’s 100% me. It’s that roller coaster of emotions that can feel bit out of control. I don’t really fall into love gracefully, I generally trip over my own feet.”

Amy’s career as a Canadian musician has been highly recognized throughout the years including 40 Saskatchewan Country Music Award nominations with a 2018 win for Entertainer of the Year. “Hey Love,” Amy’s first single from her third studio album Good Intentions and written by multi-award-winning songwriter Jeff Cohen (Sugarland, The Band Perry, Big & Rich), climbed to #6 on the Australian country music charts in 2019. The album was voted the #2 Best Album in Saskatchewan in all genres for 2019. Amy has performed at the Calgary Stampede, Canadian Music Week, Canadian Country Music Awards, AmericanaFest, BreakOut West, JunoFest and Australian Music Week, Groundwater Country Music Festival, and Gympie Music Muster in Australia.
